The
Montessori of Frankfort leases two Sunday School classrooms for their
program. The primary goal of a Montessori program is to help each child
reach full potential in all areas of life. Their staff members, Linda
Wiksten, Paulette Polyak and Cristin Verver, attended the Montessori
Training Center MECA in Hinsdale, Illinois and also teach at the Montessori
of Plainfield.
The
academic program is for children ages 3-6 years of age. The aim is to
encourage active, self-directed learning and to strike a balance of
individual mastery with small group collaboration within the whole group
community.
Each
Montessori class operates on the principle of freedom within limits.
Children are free to work at their own pace with materials they have
chosen, either alone or with others. The curriculum includes Practical
Living, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Natural Sciences, Social Science,
Spanish and Computers. The "whole child" approach is what makes Montessori
unique.
They are
very grateful that St. Peter's has welcomed them into our facility. Church
members who enroll their children will receive a discount. Everyone is welcome
to visit their classrooms.
